For those of you who may have tried to avert your eyes from the tragedy of the Flint, Michigan water crisis, know this: The governor of Michigan pursued a course of action that involved removing mayors and dismantling city councils of predominantly poor & black areas. Ultimately his manuevering has left a city of 100,000 people without clean drinking water FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS.
Jedi Mind Tricks frontman Vinnie Paz & his producer Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind are Philadelphia representatives and probably (hopefully?) did not see this disaster coming. Or maybe they did, and thats why Vinnie's raps are so vicious. "Poison in the BIrth Water," the opening track off their latest album "The Thief and the Fallen" is an unfortunately banging soundtrack to these events.
Check your partisanship here and per Michael Moore, don't send water, join the revolution.
[On a side note, didn't one of the heroes of Michael Lewis' THe BIg Short, Michael Burrie, sugest that the next world war would be fought over water? I'll have the crack staff here at DF look into this. ]
